Fuel gauge on sx 2015
« on: April 07, 2018, 01:45:16 PM »
I have just started using my bike to commute to work and after doing 120 miles from a full tank it’s on the last bar, when I refuel it takes around 11.5 litres to fill it again is this normal as I don’t want to run out of fuel. I’ve never let get to where it flashes on low fuel.
This model has a 19 litre tank.

Had my bike since end of last October and thats almost  exactly what I get

Did 148 miles onto last bar, bar not flashing though and still got 11 litres in tank - bike on side stand - can't be bothered these days with trying to fill up whilst sat on bike.

 :461: sounds about right 120 - 130 miles.

I commute 60 miles round trip and usually get two days before hitting the last bar, that’s all motorway miles usually a erm... liberal approach to speed  :164: depends how late I’m running.

Obviously your fuel consumption all depends on your riding style and the roads your on.

Motorway miles ridden sensibly 60mph or so will always bring better mpg than stop-start town miles because your not spending more fuel getting going all the time.

But ultimately your riding style will always have the most influence over your mpg.

What I like about my 2016 SX is that 90mph in top, it still shows that ‘eco’ light on dash  :046: so that’s my excuse   :830:

I put 16.2  litres in yesterday with the low fuel flashing for a few miles and 38 miles showing as remaining range. I probably went 160 - 170 miles from full. I obviously could go 38 miles further at least.

Just ride untill it flashes. You can still only fill 16L. You have around  3.5L left when flashing.

Even when you’ve got down to the flashing light, it will last a while I just limped onto the forecourt of a garage in Scotland just as it started sucking rust!  :celebrate:

swap the dash to show miles remaining.. it will show until its not certain anymore..

It starts flashing way to early for normal riding with gas stations everywhere, when you cant see miles remaining on the dash anymore (it just shows ---) you still got anywhere from 10-30 miles left in the tank..
Up to you what you feel comfortable with refilling at..

If you are doing long stretches on the motorway with consistent speeds, the miles remaining tends to stay until your very low, but if your in town start/stopping a lot it will go off sooner.

There are other topics on this btw :P
