IAM Surety
« on: February 26, 2016, 08:40:11 AM »
Arranging the insurance for the new SX... current (soon to be ex!) insurer wanted £289 (inc £25 midterm adjustment fee!!  :187: ) - they soon got told what to do.. whilst I was being insulted on the phone I did the Meerkat thing and could get the same level of cover for an entire year for the same price! But I would lose the earned claims bonus  :006:

Gave the people who cover the IAM Surety scheme a ring - long story short, they promise to beat any quote - and despite their system wanting about £380 to insure me - haggling they gave me class 1 business use, legal cover, pillion cover and all for £10 less than the meerkats!  :celebrate:

SX is still more than twice as expensive to insure than my ER6 - but I'm hoping it's 10 times more fun! Roll on Tuesday

I moved from an ER to my SX and the first year's insurance nearly gave me a nose bleed!  :005: Like yourself = almost double, even through the IAM; but rest assured, what insurers really want is for you to have 2 years no claims on a 1 litre bike. After that it comes down rapidly!  :028:

Just renewed with Cornmarket (previously IAM Surety) - £154 for class 1 business use and 10000  miles per year - seems very reasonable.

My insurance with 2 years NCB for my new SX with business use was £245 from Carole Nash, I thought it was quite reasonable as I've only been riding 3 years!

Never accept their first quote. Always get a comparison quote  9/10 they'll beat it. I'm with them and I get business use, legal protection etc in my fees. I also get coverage included for IAM Observing and Skills days on Tracks, if required.

Old thread I know, but relevant.

Just renewed with IAM Surety. Original quote £280 ish up from £250 ish last year with £600 excess. GoCompare gave £154 with £450 excess from BikeSure inc legal and nc protection. IAM chap says their quotes are not coming close to that but as IAM member if I can prove the quote they'll match it. One screenshot later and they are as good as their word. Worth being aware if you're IAM member.

They did the same for me 2 years ago even though not an Iam member, last year they couldn't match what I was offered elsewhere and this year I tried 6x to call them but get no answer just an answerphone that didn't say their name on the recording and no answer to online enquiry, after that I thought they were jot going anymore.
