Thanks everyone :)

Oddly enough, the instructions say to tighten both the mounting block bolts evenly, and they mention a torque wrench in the list of required tools, but I unless I missed it, there's no mention of the actual torque setting. I just applied some copper grease and did the bolts up reasonably tight by hand; they weren't hugely tight to begin with.

Small update: I spoke to R&G the other day about the engine case covers.

The items currently being offered for the Z1000SX are p/n ECC0077BK and ECC0079BK, and they DO NOT FIT without modification. They are designed for the naked Z1000, but the SX has additional brackets which attach to the fairings and other items which get in the way.

R&G have designed covers for the SX but they're not yet available. As soon as they're ready I'll be getting a set and will update the fitting guide.

Thanks for the info, i pulled my fairings off to fit puig bungs but wasnt really happy with how they fitted up so may look for the r&g ones. Your step by step photos made it easy. The biggest hassle i had refitting was the vey front tang on the upper edge of the fairing below the headlight took a couple of goes to get right but now i know how its pretty straightforward. Thanks, Doug.

Excellent post Andy, this really helps me.

Fitting the "bike to bike" at the weekend and won't be breaking the plastic.

And many thanks to Jon for pointing me to this thread.

Andy, spot on guide mate, I applaud you.  :028:

Followed it to fit my bungs after my little mishap, couldn't get the o/s top bolt out to save my life, little bugger. Anyhow as i had the Puig bungs and they only have the one bolt I was able to gently pull the fairing out and work from beneath. They are certainly on there to stay though and they don't half stick out a long way!!!
Puig instructions give a torque setting of 54Nm for M10 bolts.

I presume that's why the R&G are more expensive as they have two fixing points and prob a bit stronger.

thanks again geezer  :820:

Thanks Andy!

God only knows what I would have forced/snapped without your instructions. A couple of fixings are not obvious!

With your help fitting was a breeze!

I found when refitting the fairing to more or less hold it horizontal to the ground (like a wing!) to locate the upper clips then gently lower it down.

Also somebody mentions torque settings... R&G recommend NO MORE than 40nm.

Thanks again matey!
