Not quite about a top box

Hi All,
So let the newbie questions begin  :038:
Looking not for a top box but a luggage rack to carry a dry sack and tent.
Looking at going down the Shad route with a bit of DIY engineering for a top plate.
So a couple of things.
Anyone done anything similar.
Can anyone supply the distances between the holes on the Shad arms please.

Have you considered the Ventura route? It is quite discreet when you don't need the rack fitted. I've used it on previous VFR8 and Blade, not the SX though.

Might not be what your looking for, but a consideration nevertheless. Obviously only if your not intending to carry a pillion. :001:
I met another SX rider on my way to Cornwall back in September and he had just fitted one of these. Quality of the Bagtecs looked really good to me.
