Gloves

Hi all,

After some new gloves. Need them to be OK for 3/4 of the UK year as I don't ride in deepest winter.

Requirements are warm, dry, protective, reasonably priced. Is that too much to ask?

Every review on line tends to contradict the other reviews. Thoughts I'd ask the real world experts.

The reasonably priced requirement is probably the hardest requirement to achieve.  Good kit seems to have gone up in price massively recently, particularly gloves.  I have a pair of Held air and dry double chamber gloves which are great but at £225 now they can not be considered reasonably priced by any measure.  I paid £170 for mine a while ago and I thought that was steep.

To be honest your best bet is really to go to a shop with a good range and try a few.  Richa used to have some good everyday stuff at reasonable prices but they too have gone up.  Also look at halvarssons for outlast lined gloves which are great in the heat.  Do you need them to be waterproof?  In my experience the only waterproofing system that works reliably is goretex but that also comes at a premium.

Forget paying a premium for your gloves to be waterproof (IMO)
I buy these in XXXL and just slip them over whatever gloves I have on!

Good call!
I use those when doing any car or bike work, they are exceptional quality.
Never considered using them as a rain jacket for my gloves!
Easy enough to carry onboard..

Thanks. Looks like my local dealers will get a visit to try but likely not buy.
After a few days recently in Brittany with wet hands then yep being waterproof is a definite need.

I was somewhat scared by any website mentioning  "black mamba" but may well invest in a box whatever gloves I decide.

Can't go wrong with them. Summer, Spring, Autumn and Winter
even Goretex will soak through...eventually!
