How far do you ride per per year ?
on: 30 Apr 21, 04:05:09
Just intrigued, the Z1000Sx is a sport tourer but  mileages seem pretty low. My own 18 plate has 14k miles on in which I thought was pretty low, just looking at classifieds on here it seems high.

Few people ride bikes very much these days, so yes, more than a couple of thousand a year counts as high mileage.
My '14 plate SX has 35k which is a combination of a few years of 120miles one day a week to the office and back, 100+ miles fun riding most weekends and the occasional longer trip away. For two-up touring I've also got a '99 GTR1000 that's now on 50k doing 3-5k a year round the UK and abroad.
Cheers, Joe

My 2016 has 10k on it and it won't grow by much under my ownership.
My last bike had 7k when I bought it and after 4 years I sold it with 16k so I average around 2k a year.
Problem for me is living in the arse end of nowhere. Choice of ride outs either consists of a 10 mile round jaunt to the local bike meet, a 40ish mile round route that I come up with some years ago or other than that you have to commit a day to it and ride somewhere decent, which I just don't find the time for these days 🙈
You might like Harleys, Yamaha's, KTMs or Honda's but at the end of the day.... its Night

Until they completed the A14 last year I've pretty much put 11k on mine each year of ownership  :002:

I covered over 50000 miles on my first SX in its first 4 years.  But that mileage plummeted when I stopped riding to work daily mid 2015.  I suspect I have covered less than half that distance in the last 5/6 years, but in the last year I have barely driven or ridden any distance at all ( I think I covered only 1800 miles in my car in 2020 and probably similar on the bike.).  I am itching to get out to be honest.  I had a recent trip to Wales for work and would have loved to have gone on the bike but the need to carry certain equipment meant in had to use my car.

My 17 plate has 20000 miles on it, I don't use it so it has all been pleasure miles. For obvious reasons it was down last year but still managed a 1400 mile trip to Scotland.

Covid notwithstanding, a combination of touring and commuting adds up to 20k to my bikes each year. My V-Strom 650 has almost 80k on it thanks to being my only bike for a number of years, so I dare say the mileage on my Ninja will accumulate more slowly…
