What is this? Under rear seat cowling
on: 20 Feb 21, 09:32:29
Hi all,

I’m sure this has been covered but what does this connector go to? Is it a 12v line suitable for usb socket?

Regards, HoT-MetaL

It's of no use to the user. IIRMC its a lead for the ABS test. Just tuck it away and forget about it.

In the early 2011 - 13 models there were connectors for stop/tail lights for the panniers.

+1 diagnostic plug for abs, I think.

What year bike have you got?

On my 2018, left hand side of the headlight, there is two wires taped to the main harness that are feeds for accessories, so suitable for usb charger etc. They are fed from the fuse box. I use mine for a voltmeter.

There are also two other wires behind the left hand fairing fed from the fuse box, for heated grips. You can use them to power other accessories instead if you wish, but do not forget to put in the appropriately sized fuse.  :028:

Thank you both. I know about the accessory availability to the front of the bike but was hoping not to remove the fairing. I have limited space to work on my bike and I just know I’ll snap or scratch something! On my old bandit I wired straight into my battery with a relay working off the rear light. Maybe I’ll do something similar.

Oh, it’s a 2017!

You would only need to remove the left hand fairing. I have taken mine off twice recently, honestly it takes 10 minutes if that.

Watch Johnathon Long on YouTube, it is really helpful for the first time removal.
