Puddle of fluid
on: 01 Jul 20, 11:44:34
hi guys n gals not sure if I'm in the right section but here goes, got to work this morning, short distance 3.5miles. And found a puddle under the bike around the cat, there is what looks like a breather pipe that had been dripping, the liquid was clear cool not oily or greasy. Question is what is the breather for ? Located (as looking side on) behind the rear brake lever and why would it leak so much fluid?

I wasn't aware of there being any breathers that exit on the brake pedal side of the bike.  There is a tank overflow, and tank cap drain  that exit in front of the front sproket.  There is also the expansion tank breather that also exits somewhere.

If this is clean water then it's either condensation or rainwater that your bike has stored for you.  Otherwise the only liquid in the bike that would exit out of a pipe is coolant and normally that is obviously not plain water.

Isn't it the drain pipe for the neck of the fuel tank. Probably had water in there

That exits on the left.  Definitely not behind the brake lever.

The fuel tank breather hose, other than SX's for California and countries that require carbon filled catch tanks, exits directly over the pivot point of the swing arm. That may be your source.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I decided to actually take a proper look, I appears when my bike was "serviced" they overfilled the expansion tank so when my bike got hot (short journey to work) the water was forced through the overflow hence the pool of fluid
