Sorn vehicles
on: 29 Mar 20, 09:39:13
So how many people have sorn their bikes of the road as we are stuck in doors. I've just done all 3 bikes and one of my cars. I normally sorn the bikes of and then go online to put them back on when l am going to use them. Just means l don't pay road tax for the months that l don't use them.

As I've a new bike it's already taxed for the whole year. I'm hoping (probably unrealistically) that restrictions will be lifted before another month is up so it would not be worth Sorning it.   :006:

Thanks for posting, been meaning to do mine before start of April and have now done it.  Nothing to lose doing it before start of April.

Just do it online, if you do it the post it will take at least three days after DVLA receive for it to apply and you will lose April tax.

You can still sorn it whyhaveone and then retax when the ban has been lifted. It doesn't cost anymore and takes minutes to do.

Fortunately two of my bikes were due to be taxed from 1st April and the other two are currently taxed.  If this 'lockdown' is actually extended, then I will be putting the other two off the road as well.
ONLY thing that bugs me is that you get the refund in cheque form and have to drive to the next town to pay it in; should be repaid to the card that was used or offer another
online way of receiving the refund !

Yes, it's a great system, you just need your banks app.

I still use mine to do the odd bit of shopping, especially with the panniers - suddenly using supermarkets 25 miles from my house, is that bad?

To be fair, I am in Cornwall - supermarkets 25 miles apart isn't that unusual!
