I broke mine putting them back on, not taking them off :oh_no: I was p*ssed, but it's not the end of the world if they do break  :006:

If you find something new, post it for the next guy...or gal  :038:

I always smear a bit of grease onto the grommets and pins to help any future removal .
Also found a couple of the button fixings  were a bugger to push the centre pins in so
found an old Bradawl and ground the point down to about a 3-4 mm flat [ works a treat ]

i have done it i did it when it was just a few days old to put a rad guard etc on

being used to Kawasaki fairings i just proceeded very slowly gave myself all day and it took all day, i didn't know there was a video and i didn't know it was like the 2019 model but i didn't break anything, undid some fasteners i didn't need to, ended up with the screen off as well but better to unfasten them than pull and pull to release something to find some hidden push pin holding it all together and it snaps  :005: :087:

found it a lot simpler than i had imagined compared to the ZZR fairing, put it back using spay polish over the tabs ends/gromets

i just started with the black surround and slowly looked all over the bike gently pulling and using trim tools for vehicle trim to gauge the flexibility and stiffness of the parts

putting it back was ok as the main fairing hooks on the frame meaning everything lines up there or there about

two block fastener to remember one either side of the fairing on the LHS

So do you reckon it is the same as the earlier model to remove and put back on. I managed it ok on my last sx. I fit a rad guard to my last sx and didn’t need to remove the fairings

i used to have a 2013/2014 model before i had the zzr and the fairing removal was simpler than 2013/2014 model particularly the bit where the main fairings fasten to the upper headlight cowl

on the 2013 model i snapped those little hooks

the good thing to me was the fact you can hang the fairing on the frame to assist - that is what i found

on reflection i probably could have put the rad guard on without taking the fairing off as all i did was fasten the bottom of it with the existing nut and bolt and then zip tied the upper to the frame

i've just looked at the Jonathan Long video on the 2018 fairing removal and that is the same as the 2020 model as i did it, i just removed a bit more as i'd not seen it
