Bridgestone T31
« on: September 25, 2019, 05:05:34 PM »
Hello

Changed tyres on the motorbike today to Bridgestone T31, pictures attached.

Bike felt weird at first as they are not square like the old ones (S20)

Did some miles to start bedding them in and the bike is slightly more comfortable and dare I say it a little less sporty feel, but tyres seem good over bumps particularly in corners and dont get dragged down lines in the road like the S20s (Not that I minded that)

They feel to touch, like they are going to be a better alround tyre and give the bike a more tourery feel which I like.

Only thing I dont like is they have T31 in letters on the edges of the tyres which is a bit gay imo...

Have to see how they wear and settle in, but so far so good.

If I was solely using bike for dry weather blasting, the S20 is probably better.

Pictures: (First picture is old tyre with screw/nail in it)

By the way, the original S20 tyres did 4,000 miles before the nail ended their reign  :001:

If you don't like the T31 you're gonna have to lean her over more than you did in 4000 miles on the stock S20s  :038:

That's always been the goal each summer with my Metzeler 01s...to get rid of the elephants  :008:

Indeed, I dont think I ever got near to the edge on the old tyres, so the T31 lettering wont be going anywhere  :002:

Am quite conservative rider anyway and use the bike for work as well so they will go square long before...

I don't blame you and I'm only playing. I don't ride like that on the roads. I do at least one track day a year on the SX where its safe to get her right over  :028:

Traded in a Honda X Adv to get the SX, so it is my first 'proper' bike...

Short tyre update,

Have done about 500 miles on the new tyres and they have worn in a bit now and have the following thoughts so far:

They give the bike a more tourey feel over the S20s
They give the bike a slightly more comfy feel over the S20s
The bike doesnt follow lines in the road like the S20s
The bike feels better on bumps especially bumpy corners
Wet performance is very good, done a few wet runs and I felt more confidence than on the S20
Dry performance is down slightly, the traction light comes on now and then under hard acceleration in 3rd, something that never happened on the S20s (Traction level 3 - the most intrusive)
You dont get the vague front end on medium speed roundabouts (at the point of positive counter steer) that I got with the S20s.

Wear rates, it is too early to say, but so far I am pleased and I think this is a better all weather tyre (but not dry weather only tyre)

:)

Will update on wear rates at some point too
