oxford heated grips - a lot warmer on throttle grip
« on: February 14, 2019, 11:29:57 AM »
Does anyone experience the issue where, at 100%, the throttle grip gets unbearable warm and the clutch grip normal warm. If you adjust it to 50% or 75%, the throttle grip is normal but the clutch grip too cold.
Maybe put a resistor between the throttle grip?

There will be a slight temp differential due to the clutch side being direct to the metal clip-on and the throttle side being to the plastic throttle body...but other than that I'm afraid I've no advice, or help to offer  :431:

I've never experienced this type of problem and I'm on my 3rd set on my SX  :006:

I burn my right hand at 100%, even at temperatures as low as 0°c with winter gloves.

As long as there isn't ice on the road, I've ridden to work at an indicated -2 and never have/need mine above 50%  :028:

100% is not meant & should not be needed for riding; it's meant as a pre-warmer only!  :006:

As a bike mechanic for the last 50 years (retired) have fitted dozens of heated grips of all makes,The best being Dynatool for heat and a neat controller,Regarding L/H Grip wrap a thin layer of insulating tape this will insulate the grip from the cold metal.

Just done 100 miles around a chilly ( but superb day ) North wales and fitted the Oxford Grips a few week's ago so this was the first time I got to try them........
absolutely superb  ( in both hands ! ).   Maybe your hand isn't in as full a contact with the clutch grip as with the throttle grip ?

I sometimes think this is the case, but I wonder if it is because I use the clutch more than the brake in normal riding and so the clutch hand is in contact with the grip less (and with the cold lever more) than the brake? Just a thought.

As stated I understand its to do with one having direct contact to the metal on the clip on and the other being in contact with plastic.

I've had 2 sets so far I ran both at 100 percent most of time in winter and even then thought meh could do with more heat. Of late I got a pair of rev it livingood gtx gloves (thin palm section) and I find 100 percent after a while hurts but if I drop it down can't feel much  heat of at all. I've also found the hand guards although good don't make much difference to my finger tips!

The keis heated gloves however! Game changer.
