I am a trainer by profession and get asked this question all the time  :008: Sometimes it just is! there's no point asking why  :006:

If a center stand is a major priority for you, then you have to look for a bike that comes with one as standard!  :002:

I am returning to ride a bike after a pause of ~25 years. My last bike was a Ducati Paso 905 which was considered at the time a sport-bike yet it had a central stand. I am aware that there are still bikes out there that has such a stand, but I was just wondering why it was decided to ditch it in most bikes these days... what is the rational...

To hazard a guess.....because most modern bikes have an enormous catalytic converter / collector box slung underneath and there ain't enough room for one.

And it saves weight, it's one reason equivalent bikes are lighter these days. As said though plenty of options with stands out there if it is important to you. I manage with a paddock stand at home and a spinner when on tour and have got used to it.

The last big bike, and the only bike I have had with a centre stand was my 600 bandit. That was nearly 20 years ago.  I can't say that I have missed not having one since.

I guess it helps that I have fitted chain oilers on almost every bike since.

I've got one with the wheels etc and it spins on it's own axis - great bit of kit. Bit pricey with all the bits but well worth it.
Will the Sky Lift fit my 63 plate sx? Thinking of buying one and want to be sure, the demo on you tube looks great.
If it looks to good to be true, buy it.
