don't think modern day diesels are poisonous  now , petrol is just as bad , too much scaremongering going around , don't think the government will be happy till we are all off the roads and leave the roads  for the chosen few !!!!!!

Anyway where does road tax go it certainly doesn't go into road repairs, pretty soon we will all need motocrossers to navigate the shocking potholes

Annoys me no end. Some roads are soo neglected it's a joke, it varies by county and end  if financialcyear if they have surplus they bung into patch work repairs that don't hold for very long

I wonder also. My poisonous diesel car has 4 large tyres and does 40k a year wearing out the roads and polluting the atmosphere and cost's £30.00 a year to tax. Whereas my bike with 2 skinny tyres in comparison and does 5/6k is nearly 3 times as much.

Taking this to its natural conclusion, road tax should be base on:
1) Emissions
2) Miles driven per year
3) And of course number of wheels (cars have 5 with steering wheel) 😉😉😉

It actually is already. Fuel duty is 57.95 pence per litre and then the chancellor adds 20% vat on the duty and fuel, cheeky bastard.
