2010-13 vs 2014 Suspension - Big Diff??
« on: June 28, 2018, 06:29:52 PM »
Hi,

I've never owned an SX, but looking to buy one.  I've heard (and read) that the suspension and seat on the 2010-13 models can be a bit rough.  But that Kawasaki made improvements to the rear shock in particular on the 2014 models, plus adding the pre-load adjustment option to the rear.

What are your thoughts on the difference in ride quality and handling between the first and second models?   :305:

Thanks!!

There is a lot of upgrades on the 2014, brake, suspension, 2 engine mappings to choose from and launch control and poss ABS as standard.Genuine 2014s (not 2013s reg in 2014)have chrome cans and as you say a remote rear preload adjuster. You wont be disappointed. voted best sports tourer 2017

No launch control on any version of the SX. Maybe you meant traction control from 2014 onwards  :027: :028:

Test rode the older model, but not enough to mentally note a difference in suspension. The 2014 reportedly has a stronger spring and ABS was also optional on 2014...

14 Model onwards had a stronger spring - better shock with remote preload plus different front fork internals plus a host of other minor changes (integral pannier fitments, better seat (but not much) along with the benefits of traction control, switchable power settings and radial brakes.  In sum a far better bike though the 2011-13 was not a bad bike.
