Braking vibration
on: 22 May 18, 12:57:28
So on Sunday I replace my front brake pads as they were getting low and with a trip to Europe getting close.

I did what I always do. leaving the front wheel on and just taking the calipers off. Replace the pads with he some make I always use. (EBC)

I now seem to have a vibration when braking.  it only seem to happen when I brake at over 50 mph.  if I gently brake at speed no vibration but if I brake hard I get the vibration.

is it through the lever or the bars when you get the vibration?  If it was me I'd check the calipers, discs and pads to see if there's any fault with fitment (anything loose or fitted wrong) then headstock, wheel bearings and tyre (pressure) would be next

I would also check the rotor buttons/rivets are not seized as well.

Ok So I strip the Brake Caliper down and gave them a good clean.

Vibration has now gone.   Note to self. always give the calipers a good clean not just a quick wash. :)

I had exactly this last time I installed pads, also before a tour. I didn't (and wouldn't suggest) stripping the calipers. Just take the pads out, clean again and re-install. It didn't disappear completely for a while but eventually did once bedded in.
