I can understand not wanting to disclose on an open forum before action has been taken by the courts.

Thank you. If it’s ok guys I’d rather wait till everything has passed.

About 5 years ago a mate of mine was caught on the M6 Toll road doing 128mph on his R1.

It was late at night and he only saw one car.  Yep, you guessed it, it was unmarked.

I got him lined up with a decent solicitor who got a good result - 28 days ban and £2000 fine plus costs.

My best advice is this:  use a local solicitor who knows the courts and the magistrates, turn up for the hearing, dress smart, be apologetic.

just wondering as I represented myself, having talked,or should I say listened to a head magistrate friend of mine, she advised not to bother with a solicitor as I could plead my own case and save the money, having seen the guidance books, bit of a no no,there was nothing there I couldn't cover myself,at just under three figures in a 60,i got six points and £345,but he did say the only reason I didn't get a ban was a clean driving licence for 10 years, wasn't interested in job or the fact I was looking after a disabled mother, saying that 128 is a wee bit more than I was doing, all be it on a motorway.
so was wondering what a solicitor would charge for representing a client, god forbid I end up in that position again ?

Got caught by unmarked car doing  87 in a 50 about a year ago - quiet dual carriageway in late summer evening on way home, and I was desperate for a piss so opened her up a bit too much.To make matters worse already had 6 points for speeding.
Court guidelines for that speed is 6 points, plus means-tested fine, or, should you already have points, 6 more points and fine (and then longer ban, plus re-test etc). Wasn't much I could do but went, was very polite and apologetic, and plead guilty to (direct quote) "being an idiot". Despite license history I told magistrates I didn't think I had a bad attitude to speed (previous incidents were 34 in a 30, and 67 in a 60 - which I thought was 70!) and managed to get away with just a 14 day ban and fine, so no extensive ban or retest needed.
